Lagerfeld is known to have resurected the House after being stagnant for years since Coco Chanel died in 1971. He also created his own clothing line named after him a year into being the creative director and head designer of Chanel.

Lagerfeld has also made controversies over the years. One of them was during the early 90's when he made Anna Wintour walk out of his fashion show because he used strippers and an adult film star to walk down his runway instead of the usual supermodels. He has also been a target of PETA because of his unwavering use of furs in his collections. Despite all that, he's still gaining success over each season. He has stated that he hopes to attain a great age like his father and grandfather believing that white hair looks good on a ponytail.
